Galapagos Islands

The Archipelago is made up of 13 major islands, 17 small ones and more than 40 rocks. It covers an area of 3.100 square miles and it’s situated 600 miles from mainland Ecuador. Friar Thomas de Berlanga was the first to notice the islands when he discovered them in 1535.

In the mid 18th. century, the British scientist, Charles Darwin visited the islands and after much research, conceived his theory "The Evolution of Life". The islands are protected by the National Park Service and 42 visitor sites have been established.

If you have been thinking of traveling and visiting a living laboratory, or if you are interested in evolution, natural history and conservation, come to Ecuador and see the Enchanted Islands.
