hacienda’s
owners
personally

construction
in 1730,
Hacienda
Chillo
Jijón

a residence

same

Marques

José

hacienda

120
years

1975
the
hacienda
was
home
to one
of the
largest
and
oldest
textile
mills
in the
Andes.
The
Jijón
family
who
inherited
the
property
around
1850,
has
contributed
generation
after
generation
to the
embellishment

restoration
of this
unique
country
house.

site
of an
important
Inca
Palace
in the
15th
Century,
this
working
hacienda
was
then
an Augustinian
convent
with
a textile
workshop
and
the
temporary
home
of the
French
Geodesic
Mission.
Two
of the
Inca
rooms
which
have
survived
the
centuries,
now
serve
as chapel
and
dinning
room,
their
perfectly
carved
volcanic
walls
a monument
to a
craftsmanship
long
since
forgotten.

room
with
its
